What a beautiful night at Hidalgo Falls the skies were clear, temperature 78 degrees with nice breeze. I really enjoy these kinds of nights it is so peaceful and so relaxing feeling the warm water rush over my feet while composing and shooting my shot. The week before I was out there to shoot at night and had an otter several times jump out of the water a few feet from me barking and making a big splash. Every time the otter jumped out of the water I think I jump three feet scaring the crap out of me. Having a moonless night and not being able to see your hands in front of me didn't help. But this night the moon was out I was able to see easily and the otter was nowhere to be seen. I tried shooting this shot a few different ways from a wide F stop, shorter exposure and different ISO settings. But I like the results of having some depth of field, with a smaller ISO setting (less noise) and an exposure of no more than 30 seconds to keep star trails to a minimum.
My camera settings: F/7.1, 30 sec, ISO 1600, focal length 16mm
Equipment: Nikon D750, Nikon 16-35mm f4 lens
