I had to go to Arizona on a personal matter and I took my camera gear just in case I had an opportunity to explore the desert and find a good place to shoot. Luckily I had found some time and found such a place one afternoon driving through the desert on a small two lane winding road. I spotted a sign for a trail for jeeps and ATVs. I stopped on the shoulder got out and walk the trail for a little bit and notice there where many large Saguaro Cactus and a nice mountains/hilltops to make a good background for night shots. Also at the beginning of the trail there was a hill that was about 100 feet high I decides to climb it and see if this could be a good place to shoot a sunset. Once on top I checked my app to see where the sun would set and it looked like I would be able to get a nice shoot from this vantage point. The day I had time to shoot in the evening I drove out to Jeep/ATV trail and limbed the hill. I was lucky that evening once the sun went down the clouds turned a stunning fiery red/orange it looked like the sky was on fire. The next day early in the morning (3am) headed to the same spot, parked and headed down the jeep trail looking for good composition when I spotted on a hill a large beautiful Saguaro cactus and new this was my shot. Walk up the hill and got close to the large cactus and did a few experimental shots to get the right composition. First shot the cactus as a silhouette with stars lighting the sky, second I decided to light paint the foreground and after a few experiments I got the photo I wanted. Wow I loved shooting the desert I wish I would have had more time explore the desert and find other places to shoot but time was limited and had make do.
