I love the desert! I live in Houston and my family lives in the Phoenix Area and whenever I visit I try to take a little time to photograph the desert but it never seems to be enough time. I went to spend time with my family over thanksgiving and was able to go out early couple of mornings before sunrise to shoot the stars and desert landscape. The night was perfect a clear sky with 1/3 moon about low in the horizon. The moon lit up the landscape perfectly and was not bright enough to wash out the stars. I walked a jeep trail for about 3 miles shooting different perspectives. Really enjoyed the walk there was no wind, about 45 degrees, and completely quiet not enough coyote howl. The next morning was not as good there where some thin layered clouds that obscured the stars on the horizon, dimmed the light from the moon, and there was a stiff cold northern wind. Shots I took not nearly as good as the night before, but still had a good time. Nothing better than getting away from society for a while tranquility of the desert.
