One of my favorite places to shoot near my home is Hidalgo Falls on the Brazos River. During the summer and fall the waters levels are low you are able walk through the water to the middle of the river and shoot the falls. But ever since October of 2015 we have gotten a lot of rain and the river has swollen so high at one point almost came out of banks. However in September the waters was slowly going down and on the November 4th over a year the water was low enough to shoot the falls. So I planned a shoot for the following day. The weather was not great it had been raining most of the day but I decided to go any way and see if the weather would clear up a bit. Luckily the weather cooperated and stopped raining before I arrived. The water level was perfect and was able to maneuver out to the falls. Still cloudy but at least was not raining. It felt good being back at old shooting grounds. I shoot for a couple of hours and was very happy with a couple shots I took. I was hoping to go back the next week and shoot the weather was better but the next day the water had risen to high again to shoot the falls. It looks like now I will have to wait until next summer to shoot the falls again if the water levels fall, crossing my fingers.
