I would like to introduce myself with a little background of myself. When I was in Highschool my father gave me a Nikon FT2 for a reward for doing well in school. In those days there was no such thing as digital only film. Most if not all of my photography I did in black and white, because I was able to develop the black and white film myself. My dad’s hobby was racing cars and I loved to shot the action on the track, getting shots of the race crews as they worked on the cars, and candid shots of spectators. I all ways dreamed of doing more with my photography but as I got into my early 20’s got married, had a daughter, and a career. So, photography was put on the backburner. When I got older and my daughter was on her own and my career was stable I started to think about getting back into photography. It took me awhile but in 2013 I bought a Nikon D5100 and started my journey back into photography. I had basically forgotten everything that had learned 30 years ago. Lucky these days there is YouTube to help you relearn the basic fundamental from F stop, shutter speed, ISO, and shutter speed and how they are all intertwine into your composition. I watched a lot of YouTube video and practice every minute I had.
My passion when I was young was shooting sports and action but now my passion turned to landscape photography. Living in Houston at the time there is not a lot of landscape. Pretty much the surrounding area is flat. So I went into the farmland and beaches to do most my photography. Once a year I would head to Big Bend National Park, a ten hour drive but well worth it. Big bend has a lot to offer from mountains, Rio Grande River, canyons, and shooting the Milky way at night.
Now I’m retired from my career and decided to work seasonal jobs at national parks during the summer and go south to Mexico and stay by the beach in the winter.
Have a wonderful day and hope to see you on the trail.
